Model Structure

The entrance or living room hand-painted chest in baroque '700 Tyrolean style has an elevating shelf, as in vogue in chests manufactured from Val di Fassa. The clear line is enriched by the lower shaped and mixtilinear part, both front and sides.

Raw Material

The decorated chest is made of solid spruce wood, a compact and soft wood excellent for the fixing of chalk and the application of temperas, The chest can be manufactured in evaporated spruce, too. In this case, we put the wood in a special oven with natural fumes for an old-fashioned straw yellow colour, and we polish the chest only with virgin beeswax.

Manufacture

The boards (sides, plan, inside, front, bottom) are put together with a "slot-in joint" system, strong and stable over time. The structure of the chest is built with an interlock. Thre lower part is open towards the central part and shaped with typical lines used in Trentino-Alto Adige furnishings. The decorations are lacquered with a special semi-liquid mixture with water and chalk called worn "gesso Bologna". When the mixture is dry, the chest is ready fir the decoration. The furniture is hand-painted with polychromatic water-based tempera and the subjects are floral and geometrical patterns. Antiqued by natural brown clays (coating) for an old-fashioned look, it is established by shellac applied with a brush and protected by French virgin beeswax applied with a soft cotton cloth. The chest is manufactured and decorated bu hand with old techniques used in Trentino in the 17th century.

Available in 4 sizes 70x37x50h. – 90x40x54h. – 100x42x56h. – 110x45x58h., the decorated chest is handcrafted and customizable for dimensions, lacquering (colours) and decorations. The furniture is designed and painted in Vangelista Mobili 1960's art laboratory, 100% Made in Italy.

Century of use

The hand decorated chest is the faithful reproduction of the original model, dating back to the second half of 17th century from the prosperous Val di Fassa.

Historical notes and mobile curiosities

The company has retrieved the original product in Vigo di Fassa, in an ancient farm. The chest was probably used as a bedroom laundry. We have decided to reproduce the furniture from the original keeping the main features, from the lower part to the elevating cover and polychromatic decorations with bright colours. Our mission is to keep the old handcrafting techniques in a competitive market of customizable products, and our principles are exclusivity and originality, typically 100% Made In Italy.
