Model Structure

The rectangular expandable dining table in walnut wood with sabre shaped legs with 2 removable extensions in the narrow part. The structure is easily detachable, because of the big dimensions of the table, to make the transportation easier.

Raw Material

The table is made of walnut wood, the top and the extensions are veneered in walnut with a thickness of 4 mm, whereas the inside is made of solid spruce.

Manufacture

The top and the extensions of the table are assembled with a framework, the bands on the putline are made of walnut wood, the middle part is veneered with a layer of flamed walnut wood 4 mm thick. The frame (under the top) is fastened to the legs through strong mortise and tenon joints. The legs are made of walnut wood and sabre-shaped, as in vogue during the 18th century for Venetian furniture. The table is hand-polished with natural products with dark brown powder clays, dissolves in water, for the right shade; the furniture is then hand-antiqued with stone and the polishing is finally established by a shellac paint applied with a brush. Last, but not least, the bale is protected by beeswax, obtained by 97% turmuntine virgin, affixed with a soft cotton cloth. The table is designed, built and polished in Vangelista Mobili 1960’s art laboratory.

Historical notes and mobile curiosities

During our visit to an ancient bookshop in Bassano del Grappa, near Vicenza, we noticed an amazing original table of the 18th century at the entrance of the room, where the books on sale are placed; given the elegance of the lines and the strong structure, we decided to reproduce it with an extension. By courtesy of the bookshop’s owners we retrieved the shape of the legs, traced all the lines on plywood, took detailed pictures and made technical dimensional drawings with all the details. Through this precious material we have been able to reproduce this table with the same features of the original product. This is one of our leading products and wehandcraft it in a lot of dimensions, woods and polishings.
