The big squared table with turned octagonal legs is completely made of precious oak wood, the top is veneered with inlays in oak and, inside, solid spruce wood. The oak has an evident grain enhanced by the antiqued honey finishing.
The top and the extensions of the big squared table with turned octagonal legs are surrounded on the outline by a band made of oak wood, the central part is geometrically parquet inlaid, with grains that create an amazing optical effect. The inlays are veneered with a thickness of 5 mm; inside, the solid spruce wood is processed in 3 crossed layers so that the top remains stable over time. The band under the top is fastened to the legs through strong and solid tongue and groove joints. The final part is finely onion-turned whereas the 2 lateral extensions make the table expand with a sliding system made of oak, reproduced from the original item. The table is hand-planed and brushed to enhance the amazing grain and polished opaque honey with natural powder clays for the right colour. Last but not least, the product is hand-antiqued by stone in the protruding parts, established with shellac applied with a brush and protected with a white French 96% virgin beeswax applied wit a soft cotton cloth.
Built in 3 sizes 130x130x78h.- 150x150x78h. – 180x180x78h., the table is handcrafted and customizable for dimensions, type of wood and polishing. The customers can come to our laboratory to see the raw product and decide the ageing and finishing they prefer through some samples.
The original big squared table with turned octagonal legs in classic Luigi XVI style dates back to the end of the 18th century.
About 6 years ago, during our visit to a customer in Cividale del Friuli, we had lunch in a famous restaurant and we noticed at the entry the original big squared table with turned octagonal legs and geometric inlays in oak parquet. We were very impressed by the size, the originality of the inlays and the 4 turned octagonal legs so we decided to make a reproduction and include the table in our catalogue. By courtesy of the restaurant’s owners we retrieved all the dimensions and then we traced the technical dimensional drawings and took detailed pictures for a faithful reproduction. Vangelista mobili 1960 decided to handcraft this important table to satisfy its clientele, highly demanding and always looking for exclusive luxury furniture, 100% Made in Italy. The table is designed, handcrafted and polished in our art laboratory.
