Refined rectangular hand-inlaid opening table with chessboard and card holder, ideal for prestigious living rooms as a game table combined with chairs. Folded in its rectangular shape, it can be placed in the entrance or behind the sofa as a console.
The elegant shape of the structure of this spectacular opening game table/console is given by the shaping of the legs and the frame, rounded in two directions. Four shaped legs support the rectangular-shaped piece of furniture, which takes on a square shape when opened. The entire structure is finely hand inlaid in bois de rose essence arranged in a herringbone pattern, with important baroque and floral inlays. The upper surface features a two-tone inlay with American walnut and maple essences, which give life to the chessboard.
The precious console/game table with chessboard is veneered in exotic bois de rose wood, while the inlays are in essence of ebony, rosewood, maple and American walnut. The bronzes are of solid brass.
The opening and inlaid game table/console can be customized because it is handmade in the Vangelista high cabinet-making workshop. The product is hand-packed to perfection and delivered to the customer with maximum protection. The important inlays and the application of bronzes recall the fashion of luxury furnishings produced in France in the Louis XV period towards the second half of the 1700s.
One of our clients, who had furnished his magnificent residence in a contemporary style, asked us for advice on inserting a piece in his living room that recalled the style of French Louis XV furnishings, specifically a card table heavily worked with green cloth. Only after long searches were we able to find, in a catalog of French furniture, the photos and description of a splendid folding and inlaid card table. Having seen the photos, the customer immediately decided to commission our Vangelista 1960 high cabinet making workshop to create the game table/console. We then traced by hand the design of the moving shapes of the furniture on a plywood panel. Even the inlays and bronzes were designed and executed by hand. Our customer was very satisfied. Given the beauty and importance of the furniture we decided to produce some pieces for our catalogue. An in-depth knowledge of the processes of the 1700s, combined with a great passion, are the two fundamental ingredients that allow us to create tailor-made pieces of high artisanal value by hand, which only Vangelista 1960 can produce.
