Tyrolean heart-shaped chair hand-carved in the Ampezzo style of the seventeenth century. The original shape of the backrest and the austere hand-made carving make it a typically alpine piece that fits perfectly into luxurious chalets and exclusive dining rooms in prestigious mountain residences.
The structure of the Tyrolean chair for alpine chalets presents the mixtilinear backrest shaped in the form of the 1600's Ampezzo furnishings; the central heart-shaped opening is typical of the Alps, the legs are an inverted truncated pyramid with an octagonal section. The backrest is sculpted from a solid piece with a curly contour profile. The four legs are joined with the seat by means of solid "wedge" joints.
The Ampezzo chair with hand-carved heart is made of fir and solid pine, woods that lend themselves very well to carving.
The typical construction canons of this important Ampezzo heart chair resume the typical workmanship of the furnishings produced in the artisan shops of the Cortina d'Ampezzo valley. This Tyrolean chair with heart, made in Italy, was produced, carved and polished by hand in the Vangelista Mobili 1960 high-quality cabinet-making workshop. It is naturally polished in essence with earth powders with gray patinas.
The Ampezzo chair is produced in the following sizes: 40.5 seat width x 56 x 90h. backrest height.
The original shape of the backrest and the austere hand-made carving make this chair a typically alpine piece reproduced from the model dating back to the end of the seventeenth century in the flourishing valley of Cortina d'Ampezzo. Alpine furniture is traditionally decorated with geometric motifs, but the shaped carvings with the openwork that allows light to pass throgh, are also important. The reason is to be found in the environment in which they were placed, in poorly lit rooms, where the light from the flame of the fireplace projected the carved shape on the wall, creating plays of light and shadows that conveyed a touch of welcome and warmth.
The chair was reproduced from an original model that we restored for one of our antiquarian customers in Dobbiaco. Strongly requested by our customers, we have produced 30 chairs for an important chalet in Valtournenche in Val d'Aosta. This heart-carved chair fits well into mountain furnishing contexts, the dining rooms of prestigious Alpine homes and the luxury interiors of mountain kitchens.
