The inner part of the luxury rounded secretaire-trumeau in '700 Baroque Genoese Luigi XV style with a flap is made of solid spruce wood, resistant to humidity. The exterior part is veneered (significant thickness of 4 mm) in rare woods like Brazilian rosewood and violet wood, which is excellent for marquetries and frames. The frieze of the cymatium is carved by hand and produced with limewood whereas handles, keys and pommels are made of bronze poured in casting moulds and 24kt gold plated, faithful reproduction of the original baroque pieces from the 18-th century.
The framework of the luxury rounded secretaire-trumeau in '700 Baroque Genoese Luigi XV style is arranged with vertical spruce axes put together and shaped for the final bending. The base and the shelf are placed to proceed with roughing, smoothing and last, but not least, the marquetry of the exterior structure. The veneering has an important thickness of 4 mm and it is made of Brazilian rosewood, fixed in a herringbone pattern towards the middle. The four-leaf clover inlays are made of violet rosewood, typically used in luxury Ligurian furniture. After the smoothing of the exterior part with rasps and abrasive papers has finished, the final step is the polishing with blonde natural water-based temperas established by shellac applied with a brush. Finally, we apply a cotton buffer soaked with straw yellow oil and shellac mixed with a powder of pumice stone. This old technique of polishing confers the furniture a glossy appearance and enhances the wonderful grain of exotic woods.
