Model Structure

Both the sides and the back of the Direttorio-Luigi XVI style desk with 5 drawers in rare cherry wood are assembled with a framework, with an outer shaped cornice. The front has 5 drawers and 2 lateral removable tablets as a book support. The legs are tapered whereas the desktop is divided into 3 parts, with real leather inserts.

Raw Material

The Direttorio-Luigi XVI style desktop with 5 drawers and tapered legs are made of precious cherry wood (from national forests), whereas the inside of drawers is made of solid ash wood. The leather inserts of the desktop are made of real English green bovine leather and the rounded Direttorio style handles are made of bronze.

Manufacture

This desk with 5 drawers and tapered legs is excellent for offices. All components (sides, front and legs) are assembled with mortise and tenon joints, whereas the desktop is assembled with milling machines specially made for this item. The drawers have the same cornice as the sides and the back. The inside of the drawers is put together by dovetail joints and diamond-milled in ash wood. The handles are made of bronze poured in casting moulds with the technique of lost-wax casting, hand-chiselled and hand-polished. The real English green leather inserts are embellished by a hot-stamped pressed gold leaf with a floral pattern. The polishing by hand is the added value of the desk, with the same techniques used in the 18th century by Venetian craftsmen. The finishing by wick gives an old look and highlights red chromaticism of the cherry wood.
