Model Description

Model Structure

The elegant corner unit has a single leaf door and a shaped drawer, the frame is supported by 2 finely turned legs and the refined line makes this furniture ideal for both classic and modern furnishing, as a contrast.

Raw Material

The Luigi Filippo single leaf door corner unit with turned legs is made of walnut wood whereas the inner part (back, plan and inside of drawers) are made of solid spruce wood.

Manufacture

The corner unit has a mixtilinear plan which has the same broken line as the frame, the edge has a delicate groove to soften the line, the drawer has a precious head grain and it is “S” shaped thanks to a milling cutter made of steel created specifically from the original furniture. The leaf door has the external outline rebated, the frame has a slight drawstring along all its perimeter. The 2 supporting legs in the front are turned on solid walnut and reproduced from the original furniture. The corner unit is hand-polished with natural products and processed with the same techniques used in the 19th century, then it is painted with brown clay powders dissolved in water for the right shade, and skilfully antiqued with stone by hand in the protruding parts, the shade is established by shellac (resin flakes amber-coloured, dissolved in alcohol 99%) applied with a brush and dried. The furniture is finally protected with French virgin brown beeswax, spread with a soft cotton cloth. The accessories line the drawer’s ring, the hinges and the key are in brass pored in casting moulds with the old technique of lost-wax casting, hand-chiselled and hand-polished with a cloth.

Historical notes and mobile curiosities

During our trip to palazzo Roverella in Rovigo, to the Accademia dei Concordi, we noticed a couple of corner units of the Luigi Filippo dating back to the first half of the 19th century in the second saloon at the upper floor. Given the originality and the elegance of the structure, we decided to reproduce it for our clientele that keeps on demanding for small corner units with elegant lines and turned legs. We retrieved the turning shape and the outline of the panel on plywood, technical dimensional drawings and detailed pictures. Thanks to this precious material we are able to give our customers high-quality furniture, 100% Made in Italy.
