The magnificent and monumental 18th-century Venetian secretaire trumeau is composed of 2 overlapping bodies. The base is shaped as well as the sides, that shrink towards the front again. In the upper part there are 2 refined slides that bound the shaped flap. The display cabinet is built with the same shape of the base and it is arranged with 4 doors: the 2 doors on the sides are shaped, whereas the 2 big doors on the front have antiqued glass. In the part between the base and the display cabinet, there are 5 small drawers, hiding within some secrets. The frame has a refined moulding in rare solid flamed walnut, with a wonderful shade effect in the wood grain. The moulding is enriched by elegant decorative inlays inspired by Luigi XV Rococò.
The internal structure of the magnificent and monumental 18th century Venetian secretaire trumeau in 2 bodies is in solid spruce softwood, whereas the external part is coated with rare and valuable type of woods, like walnut and the extremely rare Ferrarese walnut root, and enriched by double inlaid threads in exotic bois de rose and Brazilian rosewood. All the frames are made of solid walnut wood, arranged with prestigious vertical grain, the friezes are in limewood whereas handlers, keys and pommels are made of bronze poured in casting moulds with the old technique of lost-wax casting.
The framework of this magnificent and monumental 18th-century Venetian secretaire trumeau in 2 bodies is assembled with solid spruce wood vertical axes glued together by natural hot glue, and it is polished on the outside with rasps and abrasive papers to smooth the surface. The next step is the veneering, with a thickness of 4 mm, in rare woods, glued by hot glue and fixed by iron nails turned to keep the inlays pressed. The elegant carvings are hand-made with chisels and gouges. The polishing is made of natural water-based temperas, established by shellac applied with a brush. In the last step, we apply pumice stone and straw yellow oil, that intensifies the glossy appearance of the furniture and enhances the luxury grain and the intense colour of rare woods. The mirrors are antiqued and silvered by hand, as well as handlers, pommels and keys are hand-made.
