Model Description

Model Structure

The structure of the two-tone console has 2 side drawers and a small but very useful central drawer. The stem is supported by 4 finely shaped cabriolet legs connected by a bull-shaped carved cord that surrounds the entire external perimeter. The shape is wavy and rounded in two directions. The splendid French console is embellished with refined brass accessories. The honey-toned cherry top detaches from the lower part lacquered in marine green, which takes up the same shades as the original product.

Raw Material

The two-tone console is made of solid cherry wood, with interiors in essence of fir. The lacquer is a tempera dissolved in natural water.

Manufacture

Designed, built and lacquered by hand in the Veneto Vangelista Mobili 1960 laboratory, all the workings of the console are made following the same techniques used in the French workshops of the 17th and 18th centuries. The finish takes up the same colour, patination and aging of the period model. The lacquering of the cherry top highlights the chromaticity of the wood, being fixed with natural water-based varnish applied with a brush and protected with French beeswax composed of carnauba and turpentine. The rounded and shaped console is embellished with refined brass accessories, cast on an earthen mold using the lost wax technique and hot made to measure based on the shape of each element to which they are applied.

Size of the model in the picture

The convex and shaped console table in the French Louis XV style is produced in three sizes: 120x42x86h - 140x43x86h (as in the photo) – 160x44x86h. Being a handcrafted product, it can be made to measure in terms of dimensions and finishes.

Model History

Century of use

The entrance console is reproduced from the original artifact dating back to the first half of the 1700s, which is located inside the halls of the imposing Chambort Castle, in the Loire region in France.

Historical notes and mobile curiosities

While visiting the splendid Renaissance castle of Chambort in France, we viewed some original pieces of furniture in pure Louis XV style, among which a splendid pair of consoles with 2 side drawers and a central one that served as a secret stood out. With your kind permission, we have taken detailed photos of all the details, obtaining material of fundamental importance for reproducing this furniture with wavy and rounded shapes. The importance of knowledge and the continuous study of the workings of art furniture from the 16th century up to the present day allows the artisan company Vangelista Mobili 1960 to be one of the rare Italian companies that produce artistic artefacts appreciated and requested all over the world.
