Model Description

Model Structure

The blue Tyrolean wardrobe is set up with 1 clothes pole and 1 lower shelf. It is decorated with stylized flowers that recall the fashion and typicality of the furnishings painted in the Val di Sole towards the end of the 1600s. The decorations of the upper frame are in shades of blue and red and the sides are painted with a threaded outline in white shades, light blue and dark blue.

Raw Material

The small coat hanger is made of solid fir, a soft wood typically used in Trentino workshops for furnishings painted in Alpine and Tyrolean style. It is hand painted with polychrome water-based tempera.

Manufacture

The Tyrolean coat hanger is designed, built and decorated by hand in the Vangelista Mobili 1960 high cabinet-making workshop. The back is worked with a cross frame, which gives greater value to the product. The cabinet is hand painted with natural products and lacquered with a mixture of Gesso Bologna and hydrated calcium sulphate, which is applied with a spatula and consumed by hand to give the product, after the mixture has dried, the antique effect. The next phase of the decoration is the most important: the wardrobe is hand painted with water-based polychrome tempera using a series of very fine bristle brushes. When the decorations are dry, a brown earth powder is applied with a dry brush which, penetrating into the crepes of the Bologna plaster, creates an antique effect very similar to the original model. The paintings are then fixed with French shellac varnish applied with a brush, while the final protection with turpentine-based virgin beeswax is applied with a soft cotton cloth. The decorations are re-proportioned by hand on each structural element of the piece of furniture

Size of the model in the picture

The wardrobe is produced in the dimensions 94,5x45x190h. It is also made in the largest size with 2 doors and 1 drawer (art. 538 large). Being a handcrafted product, the Alpine wardrobe can be reproduced to measure in terms of size and type of decorations.

Model History

Century of use

The stylistic elegance of this typical piece of furniture is given by the decorations that refer to the typical processes carried out in the craft shops of the Val di Sole in Trentino Alto-Adige. The wardrobe is reproduced from the original model dating back to the period between the end of the 1600s and the beginning of the 18th century.

Historical notes and mobile curiosities

This elegant reproduction of a coat hanger, which was created for the first time in the sixteenth century in the craft shops of the Val di Sole in Trentino Alto Adige, perfectly recalls the ancient art of the place and historical period in which it was born. This land boasts millennia of settlements which led to an exponential enrichment in the real estate sector through a great mix of arts, cultures and construction methods of all the peoples who conquered it. We can observe in this piece of furniture the delicacy of the fine and regular decorations which, however, enclose in the flowers techniques for enhancing the painting through oriental textures. It is a very popular coat hanger because it captures the attention of the customer who cannot help but be conquered by these soft colors, by an ornament of bold and bright designs that make the whole a curious and refined piece of furniture to add to your decor. The continuous search for original Tyrolean pieces and the technical working characteristics in use in the Trentino workshops of the 17th and 18th centuries, offer the market unique and refined pieces of the highest cabinetry that only the Vangelista Mobili 1960 brand can create.
