Empire Directoire style display cabinet with 1 door and 1 drawer reproduced in solid cherry essence.

Art. 81

Introduction

Small glass cabinet reproduced in fine solid cherry wood with 1 door and 1 drawer. After the magnificence of eighteenth-century furnishings characterized by an evident abundance of curved lines, this model of silverware takes up the rigid and austere shapes of the frames and structure typical of Venetian furnishings produced between the end of the eighteenth and the beginning of the nineteenth century, straddling the Directoire and Empire styles. The glass cabinet fits perfectly into many residential contexts such as entrances, dining rooms, corridors or columns dividing internal spaces. It can also be used as a bookcase by replacing the glass shelves with wooden shelves. We have reproduced the same model with 2 doors and a drawer art. 76.

Model Description

Model Structure

The frame of the showcase develops vertically with an upper drawer and a door. From the door and sides in cut crystals you can admire the interior of the piece of furniture. The silverware is supported by 4 slightly shaped square section legs, which reflect the stylistic fashion of the Empire Directory style furnishings. The inside of the crystal cabinet has 3 adjustable crystal shelves, suitable for holding small collections, silverware or porcelain.

Raw Material

The glass cabinet is produced in precious essence of solid cherry wood, the backrest is covered in pearl-colored damask fabric and is produced in cherry blockboard. The inside of the drawer is in ash wood. The showcase is shellac polished.

Manufacture

The made in Italy silverware is produced and polished by hand in the Vangelista Mobili 1960 high cabinet-making laboratory in the Veneto region. The drawer is assembled with dovetail joints. The lateral pillars outside the doors are carved with a small "S" and obtained from a special mild steel milling cutter which incorporates the molding of the original model. Polished with shellac, the glass cabinet has a door and sides worked with a frame so as to reveal the interior, with ground crystals. The showcase is polished with alcohol-based shellac paint applied with a brush.

Size of the model in the picture

The showcase is reproduced in the 80x35x142h size. The same model has been reproduced with 2 doors and 1 drawer (art. 76. ). Being a piece of furniture produced to measure in our high cabinet-making workshop, the glass cabinet can be made with the desired dimensions and type of polishing.

Model History

Century of use

The austere shapes of the frame and the structure of the showcase recall the typical stylistic features of the Venetian furnishings produced between the end of the 18th and the beginning of the 19th century among the Directoire and Empire styles.

Historical notes and mobile curiosities

This piece of furniture is built in solid cherry wood, which is one of the finest woods given its very wavy grain and the color of the fiber tending towards red. This showcase/crystal cabinet is in great demand for its finesse and elegance that shines through from every corner and in every molded frame. Unlike other pieces of furniture, in which the designs and decorations are very particular and sublime, this crystal cabinet is very simple and this makes it unique in its kind. The space inside this piece of furniture is very large for storing any type of silverware you want or anything you prefer to store, from small collections to fine porcelain or crystal. We give the possibility to make it with internal shelves in ash wood easily adjustable for bookcase use.
