The luxury handpainted 18th-century Baroque Tyrolean corner unit decorated with baroque patterns is made of solid spruce wood, ideal for lacquerings and often used during the 17th and the 18th century in Trentino valleys for the decorated furnishings. Hinges and locks are made of hot-forged iron, like the original corner unit.
The frame of the corner unit is assembled with strong mortise and tenon joints, whereas the prominent plan has an outline and an “s” shaped cornice. The leaf door has wide bands, it is assembled by framework with dowel joints. The tall legs are finely shaped with a mixtilinear move over the whole outline. The most complicated step is the decoration; the furniture is lacquered with consumed “gesso Bologna” for an old fashioned look equal to the original corner unit and handdecorated by a combination of finest brushes and water-based temperas, the frame and the plan are decorated with light brown vegetal patterns, surrounded by beige nuances. The laf door has the same decorations on the bands, whereas the central panel is painted with a big lacquered polychrome flower vase. There are Baroque floral patterns on the shaped legs, too. The furniture is coated with brown clays on the corners and cornices, for an antique and worn effect, whereas the precious decorations are established with a transparent shellac applied with a brush and final protection with French white virgin beeswax. The lock, keys and handles are made of hot forged iron like the original dating back to the 18th century, and the lock is punched with nails.
Built in 2 sizes small 83x83x122h. – big 95x95x122h., the corner unit is customizable for dimensions, colours and decorations.

After visiting the 16th century Colz Castle in Val Badia, we were fascinated by the 2 original corner units in the entrance of one of its 4 towers. Thanks to the owners, the Mayerhofers, we retrieved all the main features to reproduce and decorate the furniture, that are the shape of the legs and the outline on plywood , detailed pictures and technical dimensional drawings. Last but not least: the Veronese green, invented by the painter Veronese, is not on the market, so we create this particular colour in our laboratory. Thanks to this precious material and our strong passion for Tyrolean furniture of the 17th and 18th century, we are able to reproduce and customize this 18th-century Baroque Tyrolean corner unit, 100% Made in Italy.
