Model Structure

The extendible oval two-tone Provençal table made of cherry and burr walnut has a sliding system with dovetail joints, where there are 3 extensions that can be packed inside the table.

Raw Material

The table is made of cherry wood, the top is veneered in burr walnut (a beautiful grain with an amazing colour effect), the inlay is made of rosewood and maple, the internal sliding system is made of ash wood.

Manufacture

The extendible two-tone Provençal table made of burr walnut has a squared band on the outline in veneered cherry wood, the central part has a mirror book-match processing that creates an amazing pattern with crossed grain, surrounded by an elegant inlaid thread in maple and rosewood. The edge of the top is milled with a particular cyma moulding. The frame is in cherry wood, complete with a small circle below that surrounds the outline. The 4 supporting legs are finely shaped in Provençal style and fastened with tongue and groove joints. The table easily extends through strong and solid sliding systems made of ash wood and joined through dovetail joints, the 3 extensions can be stored in the box inside the table. The whole structure is fastened with nails made of oak wood. The most wanted finishing for this table is a bleached opaque grey top and the lower part lacquered cream white. The table is finely antiqued with stone and brown clays to give it an old-fashioned and worn look. The final step is the protection with white French 97% virgin beeswax. The table is handcrafted, inlaid and lacquered in Vangelista Mobili 1960’s art laboratory.

Historical notes and mobile curiosities

The story of the reproduction of this table is very curious. During our trip to Arles, Provence, southern France, we noticed a beautiful table in a market, where the owners put perfumes and goods for the bathroom. We were impressed by this rare and elegant table, we bought it to make a perfect reproduction for our customers who love the Provençal style. In our art laboratory, we retrieved all dimensions, traced the shape of the legs and the top, designed the extendible sliding system and made technical dimensional drawings for a faithful reproduction. Given the amazing result, we decided to build it in many sizes, The two-tone finishing is perfect both for light furnishing and contemporary furniture as a contrast. Our love for Provençal furniture dating back to the 18th century leads us to keep looking for and reproducing luxury customizable furniture, completely handcrafted, 100% Made in Italy.
