Centre room inlaid desk in rare walnut, with 7 drawers in the front, whereas the sides, the desktop, the back and the drawers are finely inlaid. The furniture lays on the floor thanks to a skirting which surrounds all the furniture's perimeter. The choice of woods and the shape of accessories are typical of Luigi XIV, late Middle Ages.
All the desk's frame and the bands surrounding the desktop are made of precious walnut wood, the inlaid elements in herring bone are veneered in walnut (veneering with a thickness of 4 mm). The inside of the drawers is made of lime wood, compact and without knots. The Tuscan 17th-century handles are handmade of bronze poured.
The structure of the frame (the middle section with drawers) is assembled with solid mortise and tenon joints, used since 15th Tuscan century, the sides and the back are processed with a framework and have central panelings surrounded by a "U" shaped profile, inlaid in herringbone style with flamed walnut and embellished by an inlaid thread in white maple and rosewood, as well as the 7 drawers and the desktop. The back of the desk is richly inlaid with lateral pillars with fountains made of maple and the central panelling inlaid with a geometric pattern in ebony (exotic wood). The lower part has a skirting topped by a double moulded cornice along all the furniture's silhouette. The drawers are linked together by dovetail joints and diamond wood processing. The desk is polished with the techniques in vogue during the 17-th century, hand-antiqued with transparent shellac and final protection with virgin beeswax; the coating with natural powder clays gives to the furniture an old and worn look. The oval shape of the handles is the same as the original '600 Tuscan style inlaid office desk in walnut with 7 drawers, that is lost-wax casting, and they are hand-chiseled and polished by a soft cotton cloth.

Visiting the amazing Villa Medicea di Cafaggiolo, in Barberino di Mugello (north of Firenze), we noticed the original desk, which was in the hall of the office. According to our studies, the original desk was commissioned by the noble Hapsburg Lorena family who lived in the during the summer holidays. We have been impressed by the shape of the desk, the original handmade inlays and the sophisticatd cornices, so we decided to make a faithful reproduction in order to give our exigent and demanding customers another unique product, which is now strongly requested.
