Model Description

Model Structure

The structure has 2 doors and 2 drawers, with finely saber-shaped legs, in the form of French furnishings in classic Provencal style. The Provençal sideboard is two-tone, with the top in dark honey cherry wood and the lower part lacquered in aqua green color. The central pillar is carved and fluted by hand with a rosette in the fake drawer.

Raw Material

The Provençal and Asolan Venetian style sideboard is produced in solid cherry wood. The handles and the key are in chiseled brass.

Manufacture

This sideboard was reproduced in our Vangelista Mobili 1960 high cabinet-making workshop using the same processes used in the Venetian and French workshops of the 1700s. The two-tone Provençal-style sideboard is hand-lacquered with natural products, coated with black earth powders, hand antiqued with a wise and meticulous care. The antiquing takes up the taste of the original model. The handles and the key are in chiseled brass and cast on an earth mold with the “lost wax” technique, also reproduced from the original model.

Century of use

The graceful shape of the legs and the carved central pillar denote the typicality and canons of the furnishings produced in the Provencal style, towards the second half of the 1700s, a period in which the original sideboard was made. The Provencal style is characterized by colors, materials and atmospheres that recall, as the name itself indicates, Provence with its refined elegance, its colorful lavender fields and its unmistakable rustic but chic spirit.

Historical notes and mobile curiosities

A customer visited us a few years ago and wanted to reproduce a splendid Provençal sideboard of small size viewed in a well-known furniture magazine. We proceeded with a dimensional technical drawing, done by hand. Once the unfinished structure of the sideboard had been created, we sent some color samples to our customer in marine green, provencal antique so that he could choose the desired color tone. The result is a graceful and original carved and lacquered two-tone sideboard in solid cherry, Made in Italy.
