Large and rounded Venetian sideboard, with 4 drawers and 4 doors, inlaid with walnut burl, with carved and sculpted legs in Louis XV Venetian baroque style. The artifact is located in the splendid seventeenth-century Palazzo Ca ‘Rezzonico residence in Venice.
The cabinet is structured with 4 drawers and 4 doors.
The internal part of the sideboard is made of solid fir, veneered with a rare and precious Ferrarese walnut burl. The thick fillet is in boxwood, a rare and precious wood with a yellow shade. The legs are in solid walnut.
The legs are hand carved. The structure is made of solid spruce in all its internal parts, assembled with vertical slats of a width of 10 cm. appropriately shaped to give it the desired shape and glued together. Coated with a sheet of a thickness of 4 mm. as in use in the luxury furnishings of the 1700s, the sideboard is inlaid with Ferrarese walnut burl prepared in an "open spot" in the centers and walnut in the contour parts, thickened by a thread inlaid with boxwood. The sideboard is designed, inlaid and polished inside the Vangelista Mobili 1960 art workshop. We studied the artisanal construction of the original model, present in the prestigious Cà Rezzonico building, to understand the working techniques of the "marangoni" who worked in the Venetian workshops during the flourishing period of the Republic of Venice.
The sideboard is made in the size 201x52x108h. Entirely hand-made, it can be reproduced according to size, quality of wood and type of finish.
This important sideboard is a sophisticated reproduction of the original artifact dating back to the early 18th century, currently located in the splendid residence of Palazzo Ca ’Rezzonico in Venice, home of the permanent museum of Venetian furnishings of the eighteenth century.
The complicated construction of this sideboard makes it a piece of high cabinetry, which makes us particularly proud of having created a model of furniture so elaborated keeping alive the craft traditions of the Venetian shops of the eighteenth century.
