The important amplitude is typical of 18th-century Provençal furniture crafting. The elegance and the intrigate shaping of the upper cornice soften the whole structure. Inside the double leaf door there are two separate compartments hiding within some adjustable shelves by a wooden ladder and clothes hangers. The lower part of the 18th-century Provençal bedroom cupboard in precious walnut wood has 2 big drawers in perfect symmetry with the shutters and it is supported by 4 shaped legs in 18th-century Provençal style. The back is produced with a cross framework, giving a higher value to the cupboard.
The outside of the cupboard is made of precious walnut wood, whereas the interior part is made od solid spruce wood. Drawers handlers, keys and keyhole covers are reproduced from the original by bronze poured in casting moulds with the “lost wax” technique and polished with a soft cloth.
The shutters are mounted with a framework and assembled with mortise and tenon (a typical building technique in the 18th century) and an interlock panel made of walnut wood. The sides in walnut wood are put together with a slot-in joint system in order to preserve the furniture’s maximum stability. The upper cornice is milled from solid walnut wood, as well as the 4 supporting legs shaped by hand. The 18th-century Provençal bedroom cupboard in precious walnut wood is polished with natural products, water-based natural clays established by shellac (flakes of natural resin dissolved in alcohol) applied with a brush and hand-antiqued by with stone, to give right shade to the cupboard. The cupboard is finally protected by French beeswax applied with a pad. The furniture is completely hand-made and hand-polished in our art laboratory Vangelista Mobili 1960 100& Made in Italy.
