Model Description

Model Structure

The structure of the small corner cabinet has a drawer and a door. The lower part of the plinth is bracketed and open in the center to lighten the aesthetic system. The corner cupboard is decorated with Tyrolean baroque typical of the 18th century.

Raw Material

The small corner cupboard is produced in solid fir, a wood typically used in the eighteenth century to create decorated furniture.

Manufacture

The door of the corner unit is built with a frame joined with "tenon and mortise" joints and is mounted with a frame and a diamond-coated central panel. The pastel-colored lacquering is sober and delicate thanks to the use of natural products with a worn Bologna plaster base to obtain an antiqued effect. The pastel green and ocher colors of the structure blend perfectly, while the door panel is lacquered in cream white. The refined decorations with Tyrolean baroque are done by hand with water-based tempera and the patination with earth dust gives the corner cabinet an ancient flavor similar to the original model. The decorations are fixed with French shellac paint applied with a brush, protected with virgin beeswax.

Size of the model in the picture

The Tyrolean corner is produced in the measure cm. 45X45x90h. Being made and decorated by hand, the corner can be reproduced to measure for dimensions, color tones and decorative subjects.

Model History

Century of use

The original corner cupboard comes from an artisan workshop in the Val di Fassa, in north-eastern Trentino, and dates back to the end of the seventeenth century.

Historical notes and mobile curiosities

This valuable artifact is reproduced from an original model that we have seen from a furniture catalog of the 60s. A few decades ago, while visiting a hotel in Val di Fassa, our client asked us to reproduce various pieces of furniture in the typical Tyrolean style of the area, by means of an illustrated book from the 1960s. Among the furnishings that we produced to measure, from a vintage photo we were able to create this prestigious corner decorated by hand on fir wood with baroque paintings and bright colors that characterized the furniture produced throughout the 1600s. Vangelista Mobili 1960 is the only company that produces handmade Tyrolean furniture made to measure using the same working techniques as the Trentino workshops of the 1600s and 1700s.
