MODEL STRUCTURE
Luxury 17th century Venetian Rococò Luigi XIV trumeau-secretaire with a flap and hand-decorated Chinoiserie has 2 overlapping bodies, the base and the upper part (shelf), with simple and clear lines like the original furniture. The base is supported by 4 turned legs and it is arranged with 3 big drawers. The open flap is supported by 2 removable tablets which slide inside the furniture. On the top, 2 refined shutters with chamfered and coil-shaped glass, typical in the 17th-century Venetian cabinetmaking- The upper cornice recalls the shape of the shutters, with 3 turned capitals. Inside the furniture, there are some small drawers and storage units used as briefcases or to keep jewellery and ceramics.
RAW MATERIAL
The luxury 17th century Venetian Rococò Luigi XIV trumeau-secretaire with a flap is made of limewood: soft and solid, limewood is perfect for lacquering and resistant to light and humidity.
THE PROCESSINGS
The luxury 17th century Venetian Rococò Luigi XIV trumeau-secretaire with a flap is processed with a shell to avoid alterations. We have reproduced the original mill, so that the lines are alike the original ones. The most complicated step is lacquering: 6 layers of lacquer coloured lobster (a natural mixture of conifer’s resin with natural colouring) are applied by brush. Every coat of lacquer must be laid and dried, then polished with fine abrasive papers. The value of the furniture ie expressed thanks to Chinoiserie hand-made decorations, with polychromatic natural water-based temperas and fine brushes. The decorations show scenes of oriental life, trees, animals, exotic flowers and gilded arabesques in relief and express the fashion in vogue during the Serenissima Republic of Venice. The decorations are designed both inside and outside the trumeau-secretaire.
