MODEL STRUCTURE

The big extendable table with a handle and sliding wheels is rectangular and extensible from the middle towards the outside with the 2 extensions.

RAW MATERIAL

The English Victorian extendable table with a handle and sliding wheels is made of flamed walnut. The top, the extensions and the bands are veneered in walnut 4mm. Thick, the legs are made of walnut wood, the inside of the top and the bands is made of lime wood, the inner structure which extends the table is made of ash, whereas the handle and the extension mechanism are made of steel.

THE PROCESSINGS

The top and the 2 veneered extensions of the luxury English Victorian extendable table with a handle and sliding wheels are made of flamed walnut 4 mm. thick, embellished by an inlaid thread in olive wood with the head grain. The edge of the table is processed with an elegant “cyma and torus” moulding that evokes the typical line of the English Victorian tables. The legs are fastened to the bands through a solid and strong tongue and groove joints, the band under the top is veneered in flamed walnut with the precious head grain and refined, in the final part, by an elegant cornice all along the perimeter. The supporting legs are finely shaped and fluted in the middle part by a complicated woodworking process. The main feature of the table is the mechanism of extension: if you turn the handle on the narrower part of the table, it slides thanks to 4 brass wheels fixed under the legs, whereas the central screw below the top extends the table and close it. This old mechanism of extension is completely reproduced in Vangelista Mobili 1960’s art laboratory. The table is proposed with a highly demanded finishing, which enhances the amazing grain of the walnut and the colours of olive wood, and polished with water-based Milesi coatings. The sliding handle is made of hand-forged iron, with a turned knob made of walnut wood using the same technique in vogue during the 19th century.

HISTORICAL NOTES AND CURIOSITIES OF MOBILE

Around 7 years ago we handcrafted a table for one of our English customers, that needed another table to replace the one in his office which was too small. Our customer asked us to pick it up and when the table arrived in our laboratory we were impressed by the details, the features and the high quality of the furniture, so we decided to reproduce it in many dimensions, in order to satisfy our clientele’s demand. Our love for details leads us to keep looking for new furniture and makes us one of the few companies – if not the only one – able to reproduce and customize these precious furnishings, 100% luxury Made in Italy.
