Small oval barrel-shaped Asolean table, 18th century Venetian style, extendible and inlaid with a herringbone pattern, two-tone polished. 100% made in Italy.
The small oval barrel-shaped Asolean table has rounded corners barrel-shaped. Elegant and refined, expandable from the middle section of the top, the table has 3 extensions that can be packed inside a box. The shape and the wood processing are the same used for the original table.
The small oval barrel-shaped Asolean table is inlaid with a herringbone pattern in precious walnut, embellished by an inlaid thread in maple and padouk (precious and rare exotic wood) that you can find also in the 3 extensions. The frame and the legs are made of walnut wood. The internal sliding system is made of solid ash wood.
The top of the small oval barrel-shaped Asolean table has a 3 mm thick veneered inlay, as in vogue during the 18th century for high quality Venetian furniture. The inlay of the top creates a beautiful two-tone herringbone pattern towards the middle. The squared band is made of walnut and retrieved from a piece of solid wood. The legs are finely sabre-shaped and fastened to the band through strong and solid mortise and tenon joints, whereas the extendible system inside the table slides thanks to dovetail joints made of ash, a resistant wood stable over time. The most wanted finishing for this item is a two-tone polishing. The top and the extensions are polished light opaque hazel color, which enhances the amazing walnut’s grain, whereas the lower part is polished cream white; the coating with brown clays gives to the table a warm and slightly antiqued look. The table is finally protected with a transparent shellac and white French 97% virgin beeswax applied with a soft cotton cloth. The table is designed, hand-crafted and polished in Vangelista Mobili 1960’s art laboratory.
Built in 2 sizes 115x95x78h. (small closed size) – 160x133x78h. (big closed size), the table is completely hand-crafted and customizable for dimensions, type of wood or lacquer.
The original small oval barrel-shaped inlaid and expandable Asolean table dates back to the first half of 18th century.
Fifteen years ago, during our trip to the majestic villa Contarini (one of the biggest Venetian villas) in Piazzola del Brenta, Padova, we noticed in the salon an amazing rounded expandable table dating back to the first half of the 18th century. We were impressed by the refined line, the shaped legs and the sliding extendible system, so we decided to reproduce it to satisfy our clientele’s needs. By the courtesy of the Veneto Region, which owns the villa, we retrieved all the needed dimensions, traced the shape of the top and shaped legs, took a lot of detailed pictures and made technical dimensional drawings with all details. After we finished to handcraft the table we decided to apply an original two-tone polishing. Our strong passion and love for Asolean Venetian style have lead us to build this luxury table, 100% Made in Italy, designed, built and polished in Vangelista Mobili 1960’s art laboratory.
