Luxury centre room ‘800 Transitional Direttorio style writing desk in precious cherry wood. The desk is hand-crafted with the same processing of Venetian craftsmen in the end of 18th century, 100% Made in Italy
The luxury centre room '800 Transitional Direttorio style writing desk in precious cherry wood is in a rectangular shape and it is refined in all 4 legs. The frame has a big central drawer, supported by 2 solid shaped brackets.
The inside of the frame is made of solid spruce wood, with an external veneering of 4 mm. (as in vogue during the 18th century) in cherry wood, and the same wood is used for the shaped legs, too.
The inside of the luxury centre room '800 Transitional Direttorio style writing desk in precious cherry wood is assembled with solid spruce axes put together by a loose-tongue joint to keep the axes solid and firm over time. The veneered coating is fixed with natural glues. The desktop has a band in the outer profile with the transversal cherry wood grain, whereas under the desktop there is a refined moulded cornice which surrounds all the perimeter. The most complicated step is the supporting legs (shaped in typical '800 Transitional Direttorio). The legs are tracked from the original shaping and sawn by a bandsaw. The leg is arranged in 4 pieces assembled with a central solid joint, whereas a hand-turned traverse maintains stability to the 2 legs. Hand polished with techniques in vogue in the 18th century, natural brown clay for the right colour, antiqued with stone and established with shellac applied with a brush. The final step, that is the most important one, is the finishing with a pad. Thanks to a swab soaked with shellac and straw-yellow oil and circular motions, the desk looks very glossy; this handmade finishing enhances the grain and chromatism of the precious cherry wood.
The writing desk is available in 2 sizes 100x58x78h. (see picture) – 120x68x78h., and it is customizable for sizes and colour of polishing.
The type of furnishing and the production in classic Direttorio style are typical from Veneto; the original dates back to the end of 18th century.
The desk is reproduced from the original luxury centre room '800 Transitional Direttorio style writing desk in precious cherry wood, that is currently in the halls of the beautiful Villa Ca’ Vendri - sixteenth century construction in the historic centre of Verona. According to our studies, the writing desk was used in the period by the owner's daughter to study and as a support. Having visited the villa, we fell in love with the particular shape of this luxury writing desk for our demanding clientele, who is always looking for exclusive products for the hall or office in prestigious mansions. Thanks to our passion for classic furnishing, we have handcrafted this desk with the same techniques of the 18th century, in line with the real 100% luxury Made in Italy.
