Description Model

Handcrafted reproduction of a luxury urn-shaped chest of drawers, inlaid with walnut burl and rosewood, in the classical 18th-century Lombardo-Venetian style. This is a refined and significant reproduction of the original piece dating back to the mid-18th century, preserved in the private collection of the renowned Milanese antiquarian, Tullio Silva Gallery.

MODEL STRUCTURE

The structure features three drawers with a double urn-shaped contour, with the front and sides prominently curved, tall curved legs ending in scroll feet, and a scalloped apron. The frame is constructed from solid fir wood, arranged in hand-shaped horizontal slats to create the pronounced curvature, and veneered with a noble 4 mm thick layer, following 18th-century cabinetmaking techniques.

RAW MATERIAL

The chest of drawers is entirely crafted from the highest-quality materials, including Ferrarese walnut burl, solid walnut, rosewood (Bois de rose), maple, and solid fir for the frame and slats, carefully selected to ensure strength, durability, and refined aesthetic appeal throughout the piece.

THE PROCESSINGS

The chest of drawers is crafted from Ferrarese walnut burl, solid walnut, rosewood (Bois de rose), maple, and solid fir for the frame and slats, with hand-shaped and assembled inlays, hand-carved scroll legs, thick veneered surfaces, and either polished or unfinished finishes. This is a high-level artisanal craftsmanship following 18th-century techniques, with inlays veneered at 4 mm thick, as practiced in Lombard workshops of the 18th century. The piece is hand-polished using natural products, highlighting the beauty and natural elegance of the wood.

HISTORICAL NOTES AND CURIOSITIES OF MOBILE

Milanese collection. After carefully studying every detail – from the harmonious proportions to the walnut burl grain, down to the smallest inlays in rosewood and maple – our artisans faithfully followed 18th-century cabinetmaking techniques. Every drawer, every curve of the urn-shaped contour, and every inlay were crafted and inlaid by hand in our Vangelista 1960 high-end cabinetmaking workshop, following the precision and patience of the old Lombardo-Venetian masters. The result is a unique piece, capturing the elegance and craftsmanship of the original, reproduced with the same care and attention to fine materials: Ferrarese walnut burl, solid walnut, rosewood (Bois de rose), and maple, individually selected to achieve the perfect balance of strength and beauty. This chest of drawers is not only a piece of furniture but a true testament to Italian cabinetmaking art, faithful to the original and also available in custom dimensions to suit the client’s needs.
