Model Description

Model Structure

The single leaf door of the precious corner unit is smoothed, the elegant upper cornice completes the structure of the furniture, the 2 frontal legs are finely shaped and soften the line of the display cabinet. The inside is arranged with 3 wood removable shelves as a bookshelf, by request it is possible to arrange with cut crystal class as a glassware cabinet. The refined shape is the same as the precious end 18th-century furniture from Treviso.

Raw Material

The single leaf door display cabinet corner unit veneered in precious walnut, 18th-century Asolean Venetian - 19th-century Empire style is made of walnut (veneered with a thickness of 3mm) whereas the inner parts are made of solid spruce wood. The hinges and the keyhole cover are made of brass poured in casting moulds, hand-crafted like the original model.

Manufacture

The frame of this precious display cabinet is made of solid spruce wood and it is veneered in all the external elements (frame, leaf door, legs and upper cornice) by flamed walnut arranged with a high-value vertical grain. The veneering is 3 mm thick, as in vogue during the 18th century for inlaid furniture. The legs are sabre-shaped and overturned truncated pyramid-shaped in the front, fixed in the frame with a strong tenon and mortise joint, and the pins of the legs are stuck in the frame. The external edge of the leaf door surrounds the hole of the corner unit and enhances the “s” shaped cornice. The display cabinet is polished with the same techniques of the 18th century and painted with water-based natural clays for the right shade, skilfully antiqued by stone and established with shellac applied with a brush. The furniture is finally protected with French virgin beeswax, spread with a soft cotton cloth.

Size of the model in the picture

Available in size 52x52x193h., the display cabinet corner unit is hand-crafted and customizable for dimension, type of wood and polish. The furniture is inlaid and polished in Vangelista Mobili 1960’s art laboratory.

Historical notes and mobile curiosities

A customer asked us to visit the amazing palladian Villa Emo in Fanzolo, Treviso, for the reproduction of a display cabinet corner unit. We were impressed by the elegance of the furniture and its uniqueness, so we asked to the owner to reproduce a sample for our customers. By the courtesy of the owner, we retrieved detailed pictures, the shaping of outline, legs and cornices and technical dimensional drawings of the single leaf door display cabinet corner unit veneered in precious walnut, 18th-century Asolean Venetian - 19th-century Empire style. When our customer saw the reproduction, he was so amazed that he decided to buy the two reproductions for his house.
