Custom-made furniture in the heart of Vicenza for over fifty years

Vangelista 1960 collects the story of three generations animated by the same passion for the art of cabinetmaking and its most ancient techniques.

1945

After the war, our grandfather Pietro Vangelista emigrates to Piedmont. In Biella he finds employment in the ancient workshop of a cabinetmaker, who teaches him the secrets of inlaying and the construction of Venetian furniture.

1951

returning to his beloved Veneto, Pietro opens a small shop in Rosà. As skilled inlayer, he also enjoys drawing. It is said in the family that one day an American noblewoman on holiday in the nearby city of Asolo came into the shop and bought some furniture. Such was Pietro’s amazement at the sight of her elegance that when the lady left the shop, he immediately drew her silhouette.

1954

Pietro dies at the age of 53, leaving his passion and workshop to his eldest son Luigi, our father.

1955-1958

Luigi works at the historic Bussandri Arte laboratory in Bassano del Grappa, where he learns and refines the construction techniques of 17th and 18th century furniture.

1959

Luigi buys a field in Rosà and builds a small laboratory. In his father’s old shop, he finds the portrait of the American noblewoman.

12 gennaio 1960

the Luigi Vangelista Mobili D’arte company opens. The silhouette designed by Pietro is imprinted on the company logo: a noblewoman with umbrella and folding fan.

1973

it is the year of austerity. The furniture sector is also in crisis.

1974

After 20 years, the American noblewoman returns to Rosà and enters our father’s laboratory. Enchanted by the beauty of Luigi’s high-quality handmade pieces, she purchases all the furniture in production for her American residence. A true miracle for the Luigi Vangelista Mobili d’Arte company. Thanks to this sale, Luigi completes the new warehouse which is being expanded and invests in innovative machinery: the production becomes faster.

1977

Vangelista Luigi Mobili d’Arte also conquers the foreign market.

1985

opening of the showroom, where even today our customers can see and touch the over 1300 handmade models that we produce.

1988

Corrado, Luigi’s eldest son, joins the company as a collaborator.

1997

Riccardo also follows in the family footsteps

Three generations have passed from grandfather Pietro’s first workshop. After more than sixty years, the passion, continuous research and tenacity in making the Vangelista brand a synonym of craftsmanship and quality made in Italy are the same.

Thanks to our customers, who appreciate and seek only products of the highest artisanal cabinetmaking and who make us proud to furnish the most beautiful homes in the world.

Human value
distinctive quality of the Vangelista brothers.

Determination, ambition and resourcefulness characterize the qualities of Corrado and Riccardo, who have never been for simple challenges. They had the courage to invest in the brand’s image, gradually expanding into new markets, acquiring important customers and making the company attractive to new generations.

We, the Vangelista brothers, Corrado and Riccardo carry on the company founded by our grandfather Pietro and grown by our father Luigi with the same passion. Despite our sixty-two years of history. We have chosen to remain artisans to always be close to the requests and needs of the customer, with whom we establish a collaborative relationship based on trust. With us the customer, although he can choose from 1800 items in our catalogue, we offer the possibility of being able to create any piece of furniture made to measure and personalized, in terms of dimensions, shape, quality of essences and type of polishing, as we carry out the drawings and projects. Each artifact is always made with the same passion as our grandfather Pietro and our father Luigi.

The packaging that describes your product

Our products are unique pieces, created by the expert and skilled hands of artisans who take care of every single detail with love and patience, from the choice of raw materials to the packaging, which coincides with the final phase of production.

The furniture is first of all wrapped with a layer of double bubble wrap, which ensures a stable temperature during transport thanks to the internal PE film. After having protected every exposed corner with L-shaped profiles in expanded polyethylene, we rewrap the furniture with a second layer of bubble wrap, to protect it against impacts and abrasions. The piece of furniture is finally placed inside a cardboard box.

When shipping by sea or by air, for the packaged product we build a custom-made fir wooden case based on the shape and size of the furniture. The boxes, solid and robust, are treated according to the ISPM15 FAO directive (International Standards for Phytosanitary Measures), i.e. subjected to heat treatment which guarantees their phytosanitary safety.

According the opinion of  the Vangelista 1960 brand, protecting products during transport is a commitment towards customers, but above all towards the products themselves.

Past, present and future. There is a common thread
that has bound us for three generations
and that makes our hearts beat faster every time
our customers’ eyes light up when they see
their wish come true.
The history of Vangelista1960 is the history of our
family, which has been passionately researching
and producing refined and elegant high-quality art
furniture for over sixty years, with attention
to the smallest details in our artisan workshop.
Our heritage is made up of drawings, samples and
over 1300 models hand made following the same
working methods used into Italian workshops
from the 16th to the 17th century.
